MANCORA PERU CLASSIC ROUND 1 HITS THE WATER AT 8AM

MANCORA, Peru (Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007) – The inaugural Mancora Peru Classic will commence this morning with Round 1 of competition hitting the lineup at 8am.

Event No. 6 of 8 on the 2007 ASP Women's World Tour, the Mancora Peru Classic saw event organizers and competitors make the call to run this morning in clean one-to-three foot (0.5 metre) waves at the main point in Mancora.

"We'll be commencing Round 1 competition this morning with an 8am start," ASP Head Judge Richard Porta said. "There are a few little waves coming in, and as we've seen every morning, the waves tend to come through at this time. It's a little bit small, but very contestable and we're looking forward to starting."

Round 1 of the Mancora Peru Classic will host a bevy of dynamic match-ups that pit former and reigning ASP Women's World Champions Sofia Mulanovich (PER), Chelsea Hedges (AUS) and Layne Beachley (AUS) up against 15 of the best surfers in the world.

Heat 1, featuring Hedges, Australian upstart Jessi Miley-Dyer and South African stylist Rosanne Hodge, will hit the water at 8am.

The LIVE webcast, event information, photos and videos will be available via www.aspworldtour.com
