BILLABONG PRO MUNDAKA OFF TODAY; SEMIFINAL AND FINAL TO RUN TOMORROW

MUNDAKA, Spain (Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007) – Despite monitoring conditions at Mundaka throughout the morning, waves consistent enough to complete the Semifinal and Final heats of the Billabong Pro Mundaka never materialized. The final day of competition will be tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 14th, 2007.

"We were waiting for the low tide at midday and one or two good waves came through but not enough of them," Contest Director Mike Parsons said. "The swell is supposed to be a little more north tomorrow which should bump it up in Mundaka a little bit to be contestable for the remaining three heats around midday. Obviously, if it's not good enough we'll have to make a cutoff point and go to Bakio to finish. We're not expecting it to go dead flat so we'll be able to finish tomorrow somewhere, we're just not sure whether it will be in Mundaka or not. It's going to be close."

Tomorrow's first Semifinal will pit defending champion Bobby Martinez (USA) against World No. 1 Mick Fanning (AUS). The second will feature title chasers Kelly Slater (USA) and Taj Burrow (AUS).

The next call on competition status will be made at Mundaka tomorrow morning at 9am.
