SEARCH FOR 2007 ASP WOMEN'S WORLD LONGBOARDING CHAMPION CONTINUES

BIARRITZ, France (Friday, July 13, 2007) – Round 3 of the Roxy ASP WWLC, the premier event in women's longboarding, is all set to run today. Only 32 competitors remain in the competition and today's heats will once again be sudden death one-on-one. By the end of the competition only one of these surfers will be able to call themselves the 2007 ASP Women's World Longboarding Champion.

At the moment that title belongs to Schuyler McFerran. The defending champion surfs in Heat 8 against 16-year-old Emma Neuschwanger from Reunion Island. McFerran had a quick warm up surf this morning and exited relaxed and excited.

"The waves are small, but really good fun," McFerran said. "There are so many good surfers still in the competition, so it looks like it's going to be a great day."

Jenni Smith (USA), who was runner up in last year's event agreed. "All the girls are now getting pretty amped. The pressure is building and we've scored excellent conditions. I just can't wait for my heat," Smith said.

Yesterday's great weather and incredible surfing ensured huge crowds lined the beach here at Biarritz and even more are expected today. The Roxy ASP WWLC also incorporates a large number of music, art and cultural events as well as celebrating the 50th anniversary of surfing in the Cote de Basque.
