BILLABONG PRO JEFFREYS BAY OFF FOR THE DAY

JEFFREYS BAY, South Africa (Saturday, July 14, 2007) –Surfers on the Foster's ASP World Tour will enjoy a break today; the remainder of the Billabong Pro Jeffrey's Bay Round 3 has been called off for the day.

Fred Patacchia (HAW) will take on Chris Ward (USA) when competition does resume. The two, who are friends, have never met in man-on-man competition before.

"I was watching Chris Ward's heat the other day and he was surfing really good," Patacchia said. "We have been hanging out the whole time too, so it is a bummer that you've got a friend in a heat, but at the same time we are all friends on this tour so you are bound to take one of them out, or they are bound to take you out, every now and then. It is just the way it goes. I know Chris is going to be trying his best and I am going to be trying my best at the same time."

A day and a half of competition remains to be run and there are eight days left in the event waiting period. According to official Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay forecasters Surfline.com, there is a good chance the event will be back on tomorrow.
