BILLABONG PRO MAUI CHAMPION TO BE CROWNED TODAY; QUARTERS IN THE WATER

HONOLUA BAY, Maui (Friday, Dec. 14, 2007) –The final day of the final event on the 2007 ASP Women's World Tour, the Billabong Pro Maui, is underway in Honolua Beach, Maui today. The first three Quarterfinals have been completed.

An event champion will be crowned by midday. 7X ASP World Champion Layne Beachley (AUS), defending champion Jessi Miley-Dyer (AUS), newly crowned 2007 ASP World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS) are through to the Semifinals.

The final Quarterfinal featuring Vans Triple Crown of surfing ratings leader Megan Abubo (HAW) vs. rookie Rosanne Hodge (ZAF) is in the water now. Hodge must post an enormous result to requalify for the 2008 ASP Women's World Tour. Claire Bevilacqua (AUS) who was just beaten by Gilmore, will not qualify for the 2008 tour having finished outside the Top 10 with no ASP World Qualifying Series (WQS) result to fall back on.
