THE BELL COULD BE RUNG TOMORROW

BELLS BEACH, Australia (Wednesday, Apr. 11, 2007) – After waiting until 11am to give Bells Beach an opportunity to produce contestable conditions, Round 4 of the Rip Curl Pro presented by Snickers has been called off for the day.

Building swell at the main contest venue at Bells Beach saw conditions improve over the course of the morning, but with highly critical heats hinging on consistent surf, officials have opted to wait until tomorrow morning to send out the remaining 16 surfers.

"A new swell is expected at Bells Beach on Thursday, with conditions likely to be quite favorable in the morning due to an absence of local wind," surf forecaster Ben Matson said.

It is expected that the remaining 15 heats of competition will wrap up tomorrow, Thursday, April 12, 2007. Friday, April 13, is the last day of the event waiting period.

Four former winners in Kelly Slater (USA), Andy Irons (HAW), Joel Parkinson (AUS) and Mick Fanning (AUS) remain in contention to ring the Bell again.

A 6:30am call for a probable 7am start will be made tomorrow morning.

Transcribed athlete interviews, audio files, hi-res images and television news feed details as well as heat by heat info are available at www.aspworldtour.com and www.ripcurl.com/ripcurlpro.
