NO MEN’S OR WOMEN’S RIP CURL PRO ACTION AT BELLS BEACH TODAY

BELLS BEACH, Australia (Thursday, Apr. 5, 2007) – Declining swell at Bells Beach has prompted event organizers to call a lay day for the men's and women's Rip Curl Pro today, Thursday, April 5, 2007.

A significant portion of the Rip Curl Women's Pro was run yesterday and only seven heats of competition remain. The women's waiting period ends on April 8, while the men's reaches to April 13.

Round 1 of the men's event was run in its entirety on April 3, the first day of the waiting period. Up next for the men will be the first elimination round which features surfers who finished 2nd and 3rd in their Round 1 heats. Surfers who won their Round 1 heats advance straight to Round 3.

A small increase in swell is forecast to arrive tomorrow and another call on competition status will be made tomorrow morning at 7am.
