Although grey skies are sending torrential rain over the location, the swell has come up overnight and the famed left hand break known as Mundaka has come to life.
As a result organisers of the Billabong Pro Mundaka have sent out the remaining heats of round one, kicking off with Andy Irons (HAW) up against Fred Patacchia (HAW) and Hira Terinatoofa (PYF).
The trio are out there right now battling a huge current, a result of the river emptying due to the massive tides which are present at the moment.
The schedule for today will see the completion of round one with round two on standby.
