IMBITUBA, Brazil (Monday, Nov. 5, 2007) – Surfers in Heat 7 of Round 2 of the Hang Loose Santa Catarina Pro, Royden Bryson (ZAF) and Jihad Khodr (BRA), hit the lineup at 7am this morning. Today's heats will be 25-minutes in duration as event officials endeavor to run the rest of Round 2 and all of Round 3 today.
After today, only two days remain in the Hang Loose Santa Catarina Pro waiting period. If all of Rounds 2 and 3 are completed today, only 15 heats of competition, or one full day's worth of surfing, will remain before an event champion is crowned.
If Kelly Slater (USA) and Taj Burrow (AUS) don't win their Round 3 heats today and World No. 1 Mick Fanning (AUS) does, the defending event champion will clinch his maiden World Title. If Fanning loses in Round 3, Slater needs to finish 3rd or better and Burrow 9th or better to keep their title hopes alive.
